Creating a river of fire from the historic Royal Mile to Calton Hill, the evening culminates in a breathtaking Son et Lumiére light and firework display over Calton Hill. You can purchase a torch in advance, or buy one on the night, with proceeds from sales going towards Scottish children's charities. The event itself is free and unticketed.

And just announced, on the 1st of January there will be a whole host of free games to herald the beginning of the year of the Olympics.  Taking place at various locations throughout the city, your first task will be to decide if you are an Uppie or a Doonie before you can win points for your team in a series of games created by Edinburgh artists.

Don't forget you can now get home safely too!!  The party organisers, together with the City of Edinburgh Council, have confirmed that free travel on the city’s bus networks operated by Lothian Buses will run from 12.15am to 4.00am on the morning of January 1st.  Open to anyone out enjoying Edinburgh’s Hogmanay Street Party, Concert in the Gardens or The Keilidh.
